Bakehouse Announces Colby Leider as Fellow for Sonic Futures
Bakehouse is excited to announce that Colby Leider has accepted the honorary position of Fellow for Sonic Futures, joining Gabriel Soomar as we continue to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations across the Bakehouse community.

Bakehouse artists Ingrid Schindall, Beatriz Chachamovits, and Luján Candria are featured in the group exhibition Mayaimi in Key West— Luján also opened a solo show Still More Fragile at Faena Art Project Room. Sterling Rook debuts the immersive installation Shupingagua at Tunnel Projects, and Christine Cortes, Nicole Combeau, Isabella Marie Garcia, and Christopher Mitchell are included in the WOPHA Community Exhibition at Barry University.
We’re also celebrating Gerbi Tsesarskaia in Material Viva at Collective 62, Robert Chambers, Maria Theresa Barbist, and Yusimy Lara in Deering Contemporary 2026, and Marco Caridad’s group exhibition Before & After at MIFA.
Big congrats to Amanda Linares, Onajide Shabaka, Lauren Shapiro, and Gerbi Tsesarskaia for the South Florida Cultural Consortium Award, as well as Najja Moon for opening FINNA HQ at Oolite Arts.

Paris in Practice: Juan Matos on His Time at Cité Internationale des Arts
This summer, Bakehouse artist Juan Matos spent two months in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, immersing himself in a vibrant international creative community. The experience offered him a rare stretch of time to focus entirely on his own ideas and production— an opportunity to explore collaboration, world-building, and the role of storytelling across mediums.

Bakehouse Art Complex Appoints Acclaimed Curator René Morales as Senior Curatorial Fellow
We’re thrilled to welcome René Morales as Bakehouse’s first Senior Curatorial Fellow. In the new role, René will work closely with Bakehouse’s leadership, staff, and artists to advance Bakehouse’s curatorial and residency initiatives; mentor, advise and strengthen the artist community; and help enhance and elevate Bakehouse’s visibility and impact locally, nationally, and internationally.
