1. Artists and creatives working in at least one of the following mediums:
   Darkroom
   Woodshop
   Printmaking
   
   2. Artists and creatives based in Miami-Dade County are eligible to apply.
   
   3. Selected artists must be able to demonstrate artistic merit, a need for facilities to produce their work who can dedicate a minimum of 25 hours per week to their artist practice at Bakehouse, and an interest in engaging with their cohort and the broader Bakehouse community.

Artists who do not need a studio space, are looking for a peer community of artists, and are looking to utilize the facility spaces at Bakehouse to produce their work will be given preference.

Eligibility & Requirements are as follows:

• Be based in Miami-Dade County, with a dedicated art practice in the related medium;

• Artists must display a need for facility and time to develop their practice.

• Artists must commit to a minimum of 25 hours per week on campus at Bakehouse (using the facilities, engaging with the peer community, or participating in ongoing internal programming); working in facility, engaging with the peer community, or participating in ongoing internal programming;

• Artists must have the ability to commit to participating in studio visits, public and internal programming, and other potential Bakehouse’s community initiatives.

• Artists who are selected should demonstrate a genuine interest in the community and seek to engage in Miami’s artist community and take advantage of Miami’s cultural offerings.

• Must not be currently enrolled in an associate degree or undergraduate bachelors degree.

To apply to the Studio Residency Program, you will need:

1. Contact information (name, email)

2. A statement describing how would you would benefit from an associate membership at the Bakehouse Art Complex.

3. A brief description explaining how your practice aligns with Bakehouse cultural mission and how your practice overlaps with these goals.

4. Describe your proficiency in the facility you are applying for and the anticipated need for use of the facilities.

5. Upload a single PDF which includes:
   1. Artist Bio;
   2. Artist Statement;
   3. *10 images of recent work from the last two years (Include : Title/Date/Medium/Dimensions/ optional short description)
   4. *Artist CV

6. A recent head shot.

The Associate Artist Program provides a select group of artists with the following:

• 24/7 access to Bakehouse campus and facilities

• Free WiFi across our campus and secure parking.

• a communal kitchen space

• Library Media Room with a vast collection of art history literature and rare books, conference table style seating, and a TV for media. Artists can work on their computers, research, read, or commune together.

• Professional development opportunities, such as studio visits and internal open call opportunities

• Internal artist programming and a dedicated staff

Woodshop provides: with a table saw, band saw, drill press, dust vaccum,
belt sander and work benches;

Print-Making Facility provides with three printing presses, drying racks,
glass tables for ink mixing, resin box for aquatint, and fumes extractor.

- a Clean Room with extractor; and two artist sinks.

Darkroom provides 3 enlargers to make silver gelatin prints in a range of formats from 35mm to 8x10”; trays, tongs, a paper water filter, a sink,
drying racks, a shared fridge, and locker space

The associate artist membership fee is $550.00 per year
+ a $50.00 refundable key deposit
+ an annual facility fee dedicated to each facility.

All Bakehouse artists must be actively living and working in Miami-Dade County. Bakehouse does not provide any stipend for materials to produce work.

All artists must provide their own materials and supplies that will be used to create their work in the dedicated facilities

All accepted artists in the associate artist program will be contacted in late November - Early December, and be expected to process their fee in order to officially start at Bakehouse in January 2027.

Traveling or special circumstances can be communicated with the admin team for potential deferral start. This is only on a case by case basis and will not be applied for everyone.

After the selection committee has reviewed all the submissions, all applicants will be notified of of their application status between Late November to Early December.

Yes. As long as you can provide proof of residency in Miami-Dade County and will be present during at Bakehouse from January - December 2027.

No. You cannot bring your work or application to the office or gallery for review.
The applications are reviewed by a selection committee through the Survey Monkey application, not Bakehouse staff.
