About Bakehouse Art Complex
The Bakehouse Art Complex is a non-profit arts organization that stands at the heart of South Florida's bustling arts scene, where it has been a beacon of creativity and collaboration for 40 years!
We provide various artist residency programs.
We offer studios at an affordable price. We build community. We are a haven.
We are the creative spirit of Miami!
Our community comprises of over 100 resident and associate artists with a rich diversity of cultures, languages, and artistic practices — from painting, sculpture, printmaking, metal and woodworking, photography, digital/interactive media, performance art, and even history.
Our public programs focus on nurturing artists by supporting the creation and exhibition of new work, through our Audrey Love Gallery and our Swenson Gallery. We also organize professional and creative development programs and workshops for our artists and the public, coordinate studio visits with our artists, support community outreach efforts, partnerships, collaborative opportunities, and more.
If you haven’t visited us before, we encourage you to attend one of our public events, such as our evening quarterly Open Studios, where we welcome the community to meet and engage with our artists.
Bakehouse is open for public visitation every day from 12 PM to 5 PM.
Our name “Bakehouse” nods to the history of our building (originally an Art Deco-era industrial bakery) where we offer the highest level of artistic creativity, development, and artistic collaboration for the most promising talent.
And if you’d like to learn more about us, we are always excited to chat more about our plans to build a strong and sustainable ecosystem in Miami where artists and the arts can thrive.
A master plan is currently underway to determine the highest and best use of our impressive 2.3-acre campus to better serve the needs of Miami’s cultural community.
