Applications now open for Bakehouse x Cité internationale des arts Residency!
We are thrilled to enter the fourth year of our partnership with the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, France. Through a juried process, one Bakehouse artist will be selected as the Artist Laureate and partake in a two-month residency from May 4–June 26, 2026. Resident artists, associate artists, and Summer Open alumni are eligible to apply.

Critical Dates
Applications open Monday, November 17, 2025.
Applications must be submitted no later than Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 5:00 pm EST.
Jurors will submit their list of prospective candidates from all applicants by Monday, January 12, 2026.
Bakehouse will organize studio visits with the finalists and each of the three jurors between January 14–28, 2026.
Three to five (3–5) nominees will be forwarded to Cité internationale des arts by February 2, 2026, who will make final selection in coordination with Bakehouse.
The Artist Laureate (referred to moving forward as Resident) will be announced in early March 2026.
The two-month Residency takes place May 4 – June 26, 2026 in Paris, France. Travel dates are non-negotiable, non-transferrable, and cannot be amended or changed.
Selection Process
The Bakehouse Executive Director and Curatorial + Public Programs Manager will review all applications submitted by Bakehouse artists and pre-screen for completeness. Applications will be forwarded to an invited panel of jurors who will evaluate the applications and conduct studio visits with prospective candidates. Following studio visits, the jury will recommend three to five nominees to the selection committee at the Cité internationale des arts, who will make the final selection of the laureates. Candidates must be available for a Zoom interview with Cité officials, if requested.
This year’s invited jurors are:
Jennifer Inacio, Associate Curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami;
Rene Morales, independent curator and Senior Curatorial Fellow at Bakehouse Art Complex;
Pia Singh, independent curator and arts writer.
