We’re excited to invite you to an intimate evening at Bakehouse Art Complex with Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis, presented as part of our ongoing partnership with Villa Albertine and the French Consulate General in Miami 🇫🇷
Ismaël is a French artist working at the intersection of contemporary art, cinema, and emerging technologies. Working across video, installation, and performance, Ismaël explores digital identity, memory, and the shifting nature of “reality” in a post-truth era. Using tools such as game engines and generative AI, his practice pushes the boundaries of documentary form, examining the space between the real and the virtual, the visible and the unspeakable.
Ismaël’s will share the research project grounding his Villa Albertine residency, Goldberg Variations, a hybrid film that examines online identity fragmentation, trolling at scale, and the blurred boundaries between fiction and reality.
His internationally acclaimed works, including Swatted (2018), Maalbeek (César Award, 2022), and Virtual Kintsugi, have been presented at leading institutions and festivals such as the Centre Pompidou, Venice Biennale, and Cannes Critics’ Week.
We hope you’ll join us for this informal evening of conversation, connection, and exchange.
