Book Odes - Bakehouse x Mapping Miami

  • Bakehouse Art Complex 561 Northwest 32nd Street Miami, FL, 33127 United States (map)

Join us for a workshop led by Nicole Combeau, using photography, text, images, and ephemera to create an ode to a place that matters to you.

Mapping Miami is a participatory art and digital archiving project led by Buen Provecho Collective, inviting Miamians to map, document, and reflect on the city. Through free pop-up workshops across Miami, participants will be guided through prompts to reflect on and make art about a place in Miami that means a lot to you. This art will live in a permanent digital archive that will map and preserve Miami’s collective memory in the face of fast urban change.

In this workshop, Bakehouse Art Complex and Buen Provecho Collective come together for a collage-based program led by resident artist Nicole Combeau. Using photography, text, images, and ephemera—alongside a concertina (accordion-fold) book form—we'll create a small ode to a place that matters to you. This could be your favorite corner store, your childhood home, your old school, or somewhere you return to watch the sunrise. Bring any materials connected to your chosen place, and come ready to reflect, assemble, and create a personal tribute.
