Donor Highlight: Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson, Jr.

Meet Mitchell "Micky" Wolfson, Jr. author, philanthropist, and Miami legend who, with his family, has shaped our city over the decades. Micky has always been a ravenous collector, fascinated with the active role design plays in shaping human experiences, perceptions, and attitudes. In 1986, Micky established The Wolfsonian Foundation, through which he later donated his then private trove and the historic buildings in which it was housed to Florida International University, where it has grown and thrived as a public resource. In 2005, Micky opened its sister museum, The Wolfsoniana, in Genoa, Italy.

Micky was a close friend of Bakehouse's co-founder Helene Pancoast, and has supported our organization throughout the decades. Through Micky and our Executive Director Cathy Leff, who was formerly the director of The Wolfsonian, we ensure our two institutions are forever linked as part of Miami’s rich cultural heritage.
