Bakehouse Art Complex’s Studio Residency program offers affordable studio spaces to professional emerging and mid-career artists of local, national or international origin.

The residency program also provides artists with 24/7 access to their studio and shared facility spaces, professional development opportunities, and internal artist programming, among other amenities. Networking and professional development opportunities include Open Studio events, exhibition receptions, and organized studio visits with recognized art professionals, internal programming opportunities and artist invitationals, and access to a dedicated staff that regularly communicates with all artists.

The Studio Residency Program offers 62 indoor and outdoor studios at below-market prices starting at $22.00/ft² on our 2.3 acre campus, including water, light, and additional amenities. Studio rents range from $305/month - $1315/month. Additional subsidy will be considered for artists who demonstrate financial need. 

Associate Artist Program

Bakehouse Art Complex’s Associate Artist Program is an artist membership program offering professional local artists 24/7 access to our shared art-making facilities and professional development opportunities, internal artist programming, and public networking opportunities.

Networking and professional development opportunities include Open Studio events, exhibition receptions, and organized studio visits with recognized art professionals, internal programming opportunities and artist invitationals, and access to a dedicated staff that regularly communicates with all artists.

Ideal candidates are: talented emerging and mid-career artists who are committed to their art practice; artists who seek to actively contribute and engage with a collaborative peer community of over one hundred working professionals;
artists who do not need a dedicated studio space are encouraged to apply.

The Associate Artist Program costs $550 per year.

Shared Artist Facilities include:

- A Woodshop with a table saw, band saw, drill press, dust vaccum,
belt sander and work benches;

- CNC Facility with a Shopbot 4x8 CNC machine and software;

- A Print-Making Facility with three printing presses, drying racks,
glass tables for ink mixing, resin box for aquatint, and fumes extractor.

- Darkroom with 9 enlargers to make silver gelatin prints in a range of formats from 35mm to 8x10”; trays, tongs, a paper water filter, a sink,
drying racks, a shared fridge, and locker space

- Ceramics facility with throwing wheels, a glaze room,
and a kiln room with electric and manual kilns, a gas kiln for soda,
and reduction firings, a front-loading electric high-fire kiln,
and a small test electric kiln.

- A Metal-work facility with a MIG welder, TIG welder, Torch,
Fuel/air tanks, Grinders, a Sander, a Pneumatic air tank, a Chop saw,
a Band saw, and Vacuum/fans

- a Digital Print Lab with an Epson P1000 Archival Ink Printer,
and an Epson V850 Scanner, and various papers included.
*Digital Print lab is the only facility open to non-bakehouse artists.

- a Library Media Room with a vast collection of art history literature and rare books, conference table style seating, and a TV for media. Artists can work on their computers, research, read, or commune together.
