Meet Maria Theresa Barbist, a resident artist whose practice serves as an ongoing exploration of our inner worlds. Deeply influenced by her background in art therapy, Maria Theresa works to translate traumatic memories and emotional states into large-scale paintings, performative actions, moving pictures, written material and sculptural objects.

Meet Jose Felix Diaz, attorney, advisor, and four-term elected official who joined the Board of Bakehouse Art Complex six years ago and has been critical to our success and strategic thinking about our Next Generation Plan.

Meet Woosler Delisfort, a resident artist whose practice employs documentary photography and filmmaking in capturing the essence of heritage and community. Delisfort’s work is grounded in a form of storytelling that weaves intimate moments together and illuminate the subtle realities of our world.

Meet Randi Wolfson, President and Trustee of Audubon House & Tropical Gardens, Key West,  and Trustee of Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Family Foundation. Randi and her family have been multigenerational supporters of many Miami institutions, with a strong focus on education and the arts. Meet Alain Castoriano, a Bakehouse artist whose practice centers process, exploring the ways his work can evolve organically to create new abstract forms. His work aims to reveal the physical power latent in color and abstraction, ultimately working to create art that resonates with viewers on a visceral level.

Meet Patricia Moclus, a visual artist and educator whose work is deeply influenced by exploring symbols and their meanings in constructing images. Patricia draws on her rich cultural heritage— having been born in Los Angeles, raised in Spain and Colombia, and residing in Miami since 2015— and the collective imagination to create art that resonates on multiple levels. Inspired by memories and keepsakes, Patricia's work displays a subliminal idiosyncrasy that speaks of her multicultural background.

Meet Najja Moon, a Bakehouse artist and cultural practitioner whose practice employs drawing, text and sound to explore the intersections of Queer identity, the body and movement, as well as Black culture and familiar relations, both personal and communal.

Meet Cici McMonigle, a mixed media artist whose work showcases an array of creatures and characters drawn from fables and stories, each infused with a distinctive and exaggerated blend of cultural symbolisms. Cici’s paintings not only celebrate the coexistence of her diverse cultural backgrounds but, at the same time, invites viewers to embark on a journey of subconscious exploration and storytelling.

Last month, Bakehouse’s Cathy Leff and Krys Ortega, accompanied by artists Monica Lopez De Victoria, Woosler Delisfort,and Cornellus Tulloch participated in a study trip to Paris and Marseille, funded in part through generous donations from members of our Bakehouse Board of Directors.
