Robyn B. West
"My work is visually direct and oftentimes confrontational. I don’t paint for comfort or beauty, necessarily. I engage in my art what is both right under your nose and also deeper. I work predominantly with the figure. I like to pull the viewer in with composition, and hopefully keep them engaged with color and brushwork. Flesh rolls. Limbs form tough foundations. Parts twist and turn and fit into at times small spaces.
I studied photography and design at the University of Michigan (BFA,1987) and painting at University of Massachusetts Amherst (MFA 2002)."
