Artist Talk: The Portfolio of Biological Futurism by Judith Berk King

In the context of the exhibition, Lessons in Post-Biology: The Creations of Judith Berk King and Enrique Gomez de Molina, King will introduce us to the process and concept of one of her latest series, The Portfolio of Biological Futurism. Making reference to the works on view at the Swenson Gallery, curator Bartholomew Bland has said: “King has issued a clear kind of manifesto […] and her work here derives from the idea of another mass extinction from flooding, overpopulation, environmental degradation and a subsequent reinvigoration of life forms.” The artist will also refer to the challenges and delights of exploring a new medium amidst a rather solid career using graphite and watercolors.
