Audrey Love Gallery -- ANNUAL COUNTYWIDE STUDENT ART EXHIBITION
The Annual Countywide was developed by the Art Education Program to offer students and teachers the opportunity to showcase student artwork in professional galleries. Bakehouse, a nonprofit organization that provides a space and a community for emerging artists and artwork events, is hosting the annual show for the fourth consecutive year.

The exhibition represents the best artwork produced by M-DCPS students during this school year. The juried pieces were chosen from among thousands of entries and encompass all media and technique in both 2-D and 3-D.

Swenson Gallery -- JOANA FISCHER: Zeitgeist
Zeitgeist explores the impression and appearance of organic and synthetic structures. Bakehouse Resident Artist Joana Fischer’s site specific installation contrasts natural and artificial environments while playing with the optical confusions of natural appearing plastic landscapes. Her translucent, superposing and exposing use of ink and acrylic colors reflects the lightness and transparency of synthetic materials. Drawings of plastic films, bags, synthetic clothes create these landscapes and are illuminated from within by LED lights.

Joana finds inspiration in the plastic pollution of our society; The use of plastic bags, food wrappings and synthetic materials in clothing results in the contamination of the oceans and health problems.
