Bakehouse Juried Studio Residency Program

The Bakehouse Art Complex (BAC) offers affordable studios, shared workshop spaces, and artist advancement among other amenities to professional emerging and mid-career artists of local, national or international origin. The Studio Residencies at BAC offer: - Affordable Studios: BAC’s 33,000 ft² campus houses 65 indoor and outdoor studios, including studios for metal, wood and stone works. Sizes vary and cost is based on ft² and amenities such as natural light and running water. BAC prices are below market rate compared to other studio rentals in the area. - Shared Workshops: Artists are welcomed to extend their work space beyond their studio into workshops that include a Clean Room with fumes extractor, a Print Room with two printing presses, a resin box for aquatint, working tables with glass top and fumes extractor; a Woodshop with a table saw, band saw, drill press, belt sander and working benches; and a Ceramics Room with 6 wheels and ceramic Kilns. - Wider Exposure: Resident Artists’ work is eligible to be installed in BAC’s common spaces and galleries and featured on the BAC website along with direct links to their individual websites and contact information. There are plenty of networking opportunities with a growing base of working artists, Second Friday Open Studios and organized studio visits with recognized art professionals. - A variety of free events within BAC’s Professional Development Program and discounted rates for the non-free ones. - Information on exhibition and educational opportunities at BAC and beyond. - Free Wi-Fi, Water and Parking. Our facilities are open 24/7 to our resident artists. *Thanks to the generous support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation the BAC will be upgrading its workshops and opening a Foundry in 2018.

Bakehouse Art Complex Associate Artist Program

The Bakehouse Art Complex’S (BAC) Associate Artist Program is an artist membership program for professional artists who are seeking wider exposure as well as working facilities even when they don't have a studio at BAC.

Ideal candidates are talented emerging and mid-career artists who are committed to their work and willing to add value to this dynamic, collaborative and creative community of over 60 working professionals. BAC offers Associate Artists: - Access to the following working facilities: a Clean Room with fumes extractor, a Print Room with two printing presses, a resin box for aquatint, working tables with glass top and fumes extractor; a Woodshop with a table saw, band saw, drill press, belt sander and working benches; and a Ceramics Room with 6 wheels and ceramic Kilns; - Wider Exposure and Reach: Associate Artists’ work is eligible to be installed in BAC’s common areas and galleries. Their names and individual websites are listed on the BAC’s website and there are plenty of networking opportunities with a growing base of working artists; - A discounted rate for the non-free events within BAC’s Professional Development Program; - Information on exhibition and educational opportunities at BAC and beyond; - Free Wi-Fi, Water and Parking. Our facilities are open and available on work days during BAC's business hours, and on the weekends, Noon-5pm. *Thanks to the generous support of the John S. and James L.
